Support for veterans and families in the UK
There’s a wide range of support for veterans and their families across the UK.
This includes help with:
- health and wellbeing
- housing and employment
- money and benefits
- care and daily living
- social activities and peer support
Support is provided by:
- government organisations
- local councils
- the NHS and other statutory services
- charities and community groups
Finding the right support
The support you can access sometimes differs depending on:
- where you live in the UK
- when you or your family member left the armed forces
- which service you served in
Some services are run locally, while others are available across the whole of the UK.
This can make it hard to know where to start.
How VALOUR helps
VALOUR is a new UK‑wide programme that makes it easier for veterans and their families to get the right support.
VALOUR helps by:
- getting you to the right support more quickly
- connecting local, regional and national services
- making sure you get the right help, at the right time
By bringing services closer together:
- you shouldn’t have to repeat your story
- organisations can work better together
- it’s clearer where to go for help
